Are you private investigators or private detectives?

The two terms are often used interchangeably, but in Ontario the legally correct designation is private investigator, licensed under the PSISA. 'Private detective' is an informal label; our members are PSISA-licensed private investigators.

Is the evidence you gather admissible in court?

We collect and document findings to Canadian court evidentiary standards, within PIPEDA and PSISA limits, so they can withstand scrutiny. Admissibility is ultimately decided by the court and your counsel; our role is to give them the cleanest, best-supported record possible.

When to retain a private investigator

An investigator can help when important facts are missing, a witness or asset cannot be found, an allegation needs independent review or counsel needs evidence gathered outside the formal litigation process. An investigator is not a substitute for legal advice, police assistance or an emergency response.

If the matter involves an immediate threat, a crime in progress or urgent personal safety concerns, contact police or emergency services first. For legal disputes, we often work most effectively under instructions from counsel.
