Finding a possible address is not the same as identifying the right person. A useful witness engagement verifies identity, records the source trail and handles contact professionally.
We begin with the information already in the file, such as a former address, employer, phone number, email, associate or event. Research expands only as needed to separate the witness from namesakes and establish a current contact route.
What a witness engagement may include

Clear notes, a will-say summary or a signed statement where requested and appropriate, with important limitations identified.
Interviewing without contaminating the account
The interviewer should understand the issue without feeding facts to the witness. We agree on topics with counsel, use open questions first and distinguish what the witness personally observed from what they heard or later inferred. We do not pressure a witness to cooperate or promise a particular use of the statement.
Locating and interviewing can form one assignment, or the location can be delivered to counsel for the next step. Service of process, where requested, is scoped separately so the method and affidavit requirements are clear.
How an engagement works

You receive a written plan that sets out the work, deliverables, timing and fees before the investigation begins.
3. Investigate
We use the lawful records, research, interviews or fieldwork relevant to the assignment and provide updates at agreed points.
4. Report
The final report separates confirmed facts from unverified leads and explains important gaps or limitations.
Ontario and cross-border location work
We serve all of Ontario. If a witness appears to have moved outside the province or country, we confirm local rules and arrange appropriately authorized assistance. No search can guarantee that a person will be found or agree to speak.
Frequently asked questions
Can you find someone with only an old address?
Sometimes. An old address is a useful starting point, especially when combined with a full name, approximate age, employer, phone number, email or known associate. We will explain the likelihood and limits before beginning.
Can a witness be forced to speak with an investigator?
No. A voluntary witness may decline an interview. Any legal process to compel attendance or evidence is a matter for counsel and the court.
Will you record the interview?
Recording depends on the scope, the circumstances and applicable law. We agree on the method with the client and make the process clear to the witness where required.
Can you prepare a signed statement?
Yes, where appropriate. We can prepare a statement that reflects the witness’s account and give the witness an opportunity to review it before signing.
Can you locate a witness outside Ontario?
Potentially. Cross-border work depends on available records, local licensing and the facts provided. We confirm the lawful route and any local-partner cost before proceeding.
